Online Guitar Lessons or Private Lessons. What's best?

There are pros and cons to learning guitar online and offline. To help you decide what's best for you, here is an unbiased list of the pros and cons of both.

Pro: When you take private lessons you get advice, tips, ask questions to your teacher on the spot and get feedback.

If you have a good relationship with a teacher and really "connect" it is no substitute for a good or great teacher. They simply can't be replaced.

Con: You only get one half hour, or an hour with your teacher during your lesson time. When the lesson is over, you will be sent home with a lesson sheet the teacher wrote for you.

The disadvantage is that if you forget something from the lesson, you usually can't call your teacher for a reminder outside of your schedule lesson times.

Pro: You can watch online lessons over and over. There is a huge advantage in that if the lesson information is presented well.

You can fast forward, pause, and rewind lessens to any point you need to see again. The lesson is there to watch 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Pro: Private lessons can be wonderful if you are someone who prefers to be in contact with a living, breathing, teacher, in the same room.

Con: Many people feel uncomfortable, or even embarrassed to take lessons with a live teacher. Especially shy people and adults who feel they should already know how to play at whatever point in their lives they are at. For either one, online lessons are much better alternative.

About Any Guitar Lessons and What They Cost:

Private lessons generally cost between $20.00, to $40.00 per lesson, depending on where you live. Many people simply can't afford them.

Online lessons can be less than $10.00 a month, or over 30 dollars a month. So if money is a problem, online lessons are much more affordable.

So in the end it really comes down to what's best for you as an individual. To decide what you will really benefit from most, look over the pros and cons, above.

The best and most honest answer to the question, "Are online lessons or private lessons better for me?" is, whatever you feel will be best for you.

If you truly want the best of both worlds and are comfortable with both, the best answer is "Both".
